Atlas' Eye

Atlas' Eye

Her heart raced against no one
yet she felt she had lost anyway
The day would drag on like
night would never come
Pain with every step taken,
but not from illness or injury,
but from feeling her heart slowly
disintegrate into dust
She must put on such a brave face;
careful to maintain her tough veneer,
lest someone hears her sobs
behind her emotion's door
Just when she thought night
would never be her comfort and
she'd have to smile with fake lips
and pretend happiness forever,
Darkness held her in His arms...
And she cried as if
her tears were the only thing
that could refill the seas…
She wailed as if Death himself
had claimed her kin, and
she heaved her shattered heart
onto the broken cement and
watched as the remaining shards clinked
like pretty glass upon the ground
She cried until all she had left
was emptiness…
